Voters today were confronted with gubernatorial, and a host of state and federal legislative races on the ballot.
But voting officials locally were not confronted by many voters this morning.
Marjorie McKinley, judge of election for California's first precinct, said turnout was "very slow."
McKinley said just eight of more than 800 possible voters had cast tallies in the first 90 minutes today.
In addition, just eight voted in the same period in precinct two, also located in the California borough building.
McKinley blamed the weather, but said voters were not activated.
"Even people coming in are not excited," McKinley said. "They usually come in and voice their opinions. I don't think there's a big interest which surprises me, because I think it's a big election."
