Candidates pitch their campaigns at NAACP forum

MONESSEN - Three local state lawmakers and two challengers appeared Thursday at a candidates' forum hosted by the Mon Valley Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

State Reps. Peter J. Daley (D-California), Ted Harhai (D-Monessen) and David K. Levdansky (D-Forward Township) attended the event, which drew about 25 people to the Mon Valley Community Health Center.

Daley's opponent, Republican Jeffrey J. Baker, of Washington Township, and Levdansky's opponent, Republican Brad Grantz, of Elizabeth Township, also participated.

Harhai will face no opposition next month.

Daley referred to job losses in the Mon Valley. He said state dollars are needed to support educational programs and workforce development.
