The Fayette County Election Board on Tuesday certified the recent primary election results.
The board recommended the acceptance of paper ballot votes correctly cast by 64 Democrats and 33 Republicans in the 12th Congressional District special election, and recommended the rejection of three paper ballots cast by independent voters.
Election board members Commissioners Vincent Zapotosky, Angela Zimmerlink and attorney Mark Mehalov made those recommendations during a court-ordered hearing yesterday.
Last week, Judge Nancy Vernon ordered the board to determine the proper number of votes cast for candidates in the special election and to determine if some votes were duplicated with paper ballots.
